It’s official! I’m a Quilter!!!
My first quilt is finished! The boy’s niece has been fascinated with my hexagons [ps. finally reached the real halfway - have over 4,800 now!] for quite some time. She’ll ask to hold them and then treat them like treasures. Each time when she hands them back she asks if I’ll make her a quilt. To which I replied like any good aunt would, ‘of course – but not like this one!’
Darian turns 4 years old today, however her birthday party was last Saturday. I almost got this puppy finished in 5 days!!! I only had the title block and 3 sides of the binding to finish by the party on Saturday. I figured she’d be getting toys, so it wouldn’t be an issue if I gave it to her and then took it right back! [It wasn't.]
When I ask her what her favorite color is, she always replies, ‘orange and pink and green and. . .’ Always those three colors first. So the color selection was easy.
I found this awesome textured fleece that was the perfect shade of green and then added a bamboo batting, so this little 3′x4′ quilt is pretty toasty!
There is also a coordinating pillow, and I appliqued hexagons to everything! FUN! Plus at Christmas she’ll be getting a baby doll quilt that matches [yeah! using the test piece for a final product! I still have to bind it and am not really feeling it this evening. ]
The quilt isn’t perfect by any means, but I learned a lot and I think it is perfect for a 4 year old! Check out those awesome circles and strips that I quilted there! SO EXCITING!!! I’m fairly proud if you couldn’t tell. Almost excited enough to square up MY quilt and get that into a sandwich! But Christmas is calling first. I have tons more news, but a quilt to deliver this evening, so hopefully I’ll get back on tomorrow!

Hooray! It’s beautiful! I also love the display on the sculpture outside.
